Maryland woman arrested after attacking child on plane who called her ‘fat,’ police say

A Maryland woman has been arrested in Florida on a charge of hitting a child on a plane.

Kristy Lee Crampton was detained by police after an alleged outburst that occurred on an Allegiant Airlines flight that was headed for Hagerstown, Maryland, on Monday.

According to Sanford Airport Police, Crampton told them the child called her “fat” and “Miss Piggy” as an argument escalated. Witnesses say after the child called Crampton names and said she she couldn’t fit in the airplane seat, Crampton responded by hitting the child and attempting to slam the child’s head into the airplane window.

Crampton has been charged with felony cruelty toward a child and was granted bail of $10,000.
